Some more info that may be of help. Both persons I know were in the hospital 3 or 4 days including the day of surgery. I know my BIL had some pretty intense occupational therapy before he went home. On day 2 (the day after surgery), they had him walking and climbing steps. The next few days were strengthing and getting him to the point of being able to stand for extended periods since he does the laundry and cooking. Both persons had attended a "class" that taught them how to put on clothes, socks, etc. and how to maneuver in and out of a vehicle. I think you mom will do better if you can stay with her than in a rehab facility. My experience with that is therapy for about 30 to 60 minutes, 1 time a day and the rest of the time is spent in a wheel chair or in a chair in your room. Your mom will feel better in her own surroundings. I know that makes it tough for you but did you consider taking her home with you? I'll PM you my phone number if you have any questions.
