does he read? if so, does he have a kindle?  any movies or shows he like you can get dvd series for?  does he like bruce springstein - he's got a new box set out with i THINK lots of songs he wrote  but he had too many for the album.

does  he need any new tools?  especially power tools?  most guys love power tools, and accessories.

need any new clothes?  rob - coat -footwear - etc etc
No, he doesn't read. He bought me a Nook last year and was excited to be able to buy me something electronic. By the way, I LOVE it! Good idea about the movies. He downloads music like crazy.

I've wanted to finish off part of the basement for several years. He has lots of tools but I've promised some more if he works on it and learns how to do it from a friend.

New clothes? I've bought him 2 new wardrobes over the last 3 years. He's lost over 80 pounds and we've had to replace his clothes twice! In fact, a couple of weeks ago he went through everything in his part of the closet and he has about 35 shirts to give away. He already has given some to a man he works with along with most of his pants. He had several sports jackets that his uncle had given him (he owns a menswear store) that had only been worn a couple of times. Fortunately, the young man next door was able to wear 2 of them. The rest we are donating.

So, I finally looked up the gadget for his bike. When I was at the store's website I saw that they have DVD's that mimic riding outside. They also have hills, etc. and tell you when to shift and what gear to make it seem as if you're riding outside. I was able to go to the store at lunch and ended up buying it and a couple of the DVD's. Now I'll just have to buy a DVD player for the basement and Christimas shopping is done for him!

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
