The fact that James Buchanan is #1 is very telling. The March 10, 2008 Time magazine cover story was titled, "Does experience Matter in a President?" There's a companion article that follows it titled, "The Science of Experience." The cover article included a fascinating graphic comparing the previous experience (the resumes) of all the Presidents. I haven't been able to find the graphic online. I may have to scan the one in the issue of the magazine I'm holding. Of all the Presidents James Buchanan had the most experience (including state legislature, U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate), more than McCain does now. Does that mean that Anita Bryant..opps, eh..Sarah Palin would make a great President. Eh..no, it appears that those that had minimal experience in one or both of the House of Congress were most successful (Andrew Jackson, Abraham Linclon, Grover Cleveland, Teddy Roosevelt, William H. Taft, Franklin Roosevelt and even Ronald Reagan all had less experience than Obama now has or just as much). The worst Presidents all had more (some very much more) experience with the exceptions of the military commanders listed (Zachary Taylor and Ulysses S. Grant) and Herbert Hoover.
