I was very pleased to hear that they prefer a shelter dog, if they can find one that doesn't aggravate allergies.

So was I. In these uncertain economic times and with wars on two fronts, it was nice to know that where the White House dog comes from is of great concern to our President-elect and to the idiot media who no doubt asked the question that raised that answer.
Is levity never allowed?? I'm sure people who do rescue work were thrilled that the Obamas plan to adopt a shelter dog. Now, more than ever, light must be cast on the fate shelter animals face if not adopted and seeing the First Family choose a shelter dog over a breeders or pet stores could just inspire others to do the same. I think it's great.

Was there any levity in his comments? I heard them and they sounded downright sober. No hint of humor, even in the "mutt" line he delivered.
I'm talking about the question and the subject matter. I haven't actually seen the news conference yet so I have no idea what the tone was. Why do I have the feeling that absolutely nothing Obama says or does or will say or will do will get any kind of positive reaction from you?

He has proven himself to be liar when it is politically expedient to do so, so no he's not going to start off with 100% from me. Anything he says, I will take with a grain of salt, while hoping he'll prove himself to be truthful. However, my comment was directed at the idiocy of the media to consider what type of dog his family would be getting to be even remotely newsworthy given the state of the economy.

As far as the fate of shelter animals, I appreciate that it is an important issue that should be recognized; however given how little value Obama places on unborn human life or to go even further, how little value he places on babies born alive after botched abortions, no I really don't care what his position is on shelter animals. It takes a true hypocrite to talk about the need to protect shelter animals while doing all you can to kill legislation that would actually protect babies. Personally, I think there's importance in both issues but oddly enough, many of the people I've read on here talking about protecting animals dismiss out of hand the importance of protecting babies.
