When did you become a senior citizen? Wouldn't your full retirement age be 67?

nope, i don't get social security. i get civil service retirement. i was eligible when i reached 30 years at 55 1/2. you can retire a normal retirement at 55 with 30 years. now if i wanted more money, 2% more per year, i could have stayed longer. the most i could get is 80% of my high three salary years, it's based on number of years of work, not age. when i left i had 32 years. depends on what your definition of senior citizen is. some place it at 55. some define it as 62, some 65. most people don't live to be 110, so i don't see 55 as being middle aged. i'll be 58 by the end of the year. they may use age 64 by jan 2, that's the age they use to increase the standard deduction for seniors. if that's the case i won't qualify yet, but, if i'm retired and qualified for a normal, not early, government retirement, imo that should suffice.
