Krgaus, I was having the same problem with my Cat Spookers. He is 8 years old now, but he was a stray and for the first couple of years was an inside/outside cat. He became a complete inside cat and destroyed my old sofa and loveseat and was scratching my Persian rug.image When I got a new sofa and loveseat I talked with the people at PetSmart and they recommended "Boundary". It is a spray, with a terrible odor that thank goodness does go away. You spray it on everything you don't want them to scratch. It has worked wonders. I also have tin foil on my wicker and he has left it alone. I got a similiar scratching cardboard device like Yoduhh posted, but the one he uses the most is a mat. I got it at PetSmart but couldn't find it on line. It is like this one, only flat. This one Spookers would probably love.
It zips in the back and you put catnip in it to attrack cats to it.
