Smokers are offensive to anti-smokers, not because they impact the smoker's life but because they impact anti-smoker's life. And yes it does make a huge difference if you smoke one cig vs a pack a day. Especially to the anti-smoker. My husband is extremely sensitive to smoke. My friend went through a phrase of smoking one or two cigs a day. That he could tolerate, then she went back to chain smoking, and he wants nothing to do with her. So yes, in she was a smoker, just as if someone drinks one class of alcohol or ten, they are drinkers. But the impact on those around them is entirely different. Smoke a pack, and you offend a lot more, your clothes let off third hand smoke, which is also toxic, smoke one cig a day, and you will likely offend few people, unless you blow smoke the person's face.
